East Anglia Region - Newsletter January 2004

Hi all, Happy New Year to you all and thanks for your cards and festive messages. Welcome to another East Anglian CRC year. Did you have a hectic Christmas, did you spend Christmas Day in the garage or did you get the cob out for a blast around the countryside?

Considering December’s meet was so close to Christmas, the Beagle, Sproughton attracted a fine turn out, many arriving al fresco in their cobras. I opted for the heated seats in my Saab as there is a huge pile of firewood in front of the garage door and Steve said the only way he is going to shift it is on a one-way journey to the wood burner.
David Horsnell joined us in his newly completed, SVA’d, registered and hoodless Sumo with six other hardy souls in cobras, the rest of us being ‘sensible?’ in boring cars.
Discussion around the fire took in radio suppression, Santa’s forthcoming visit and Debbie Dainton’s MBA thesis.
Steve chatted about the finalised Le Mans details to those interested, and others dined on Roast Chicken and Sticky Toffee Pudding. Exactly what I needed on a cold December day!

My apologies for the newsletter being a bit shorter than usual this month as my gossip grapevine has been somewhat quiet of late. Steve and I have been rather busy with the mundane job of clearing up after Christmas and taking part in a bit of painting and decorating. I don’t think Steve has started the cob for a couple of months now – shame on him.

This month’s meet and opener for 2004 is on Sunday 18th January at 12:00 at the Marsh Harrier, Norwich, east Norfolk. That’s the pub by the side of the road on the A140 south or Norwich. We’ve used this pub before and found it to be very accommodating with a good menu choice if you fancy a bite to eat and a bit of post Christmas socialising.
You should know where Norwich is. The Marsh Harrier is on the A140 Ipswich Road at the southern side of Norwich about a mile north of the A140 / A47 junction just by the river. If we’ve burned some more firewood by then, I may make an appearance in the cob!

I am currently compiling the list of East Anglian meets for 2004 from the various sources. Thanks to Mike Spivey for his suggestions so far. If anyone else wishes to add their recommendations, now is your chance to call me

Thanks to all you cobrateers, keep calling, and mailing.

Bye for now, Eileen
