| East Anglia Region - Newsletter March 2004 Hi all, February’s meet, at the Welshwood, Fox Street, was a rather short journey for me – I actually walked to the pub (it was only 6 houses down the road from me though). However, Steve (being lazy and slothful) drove the cobra there. Mind you, it was a change for the car to actually be out of the garage. Yes, he moved the firewood in front of the garage doors and, with a bit of turning over of the engine to build up some oil pressure, the mighty Pontiac barked into life. So a worthwhile exercise then. The other significant event that day was my *$£*% birthday. Many thanks for everyone’s best wishes and cards and words of sympathy! I spent the rest of the afternoon lounging at home, consuming wine with friends whilst Steve entertained others rumbling up and down the A12. Steve’s now keen to see the onset of the dry, warm weather whilst I am nursing a red wine induced hangover. With the weather in mind, the show and racing season is only just around the corner now, the London Classic Car Show is on the 20th of this month whilst next month, April 3rd and 4th is the Detling Kit Car Show and April 9th Good Friday, is the Dax Open Day. I know Steve is keen to drive down to Dax (assuming it’s not a wash out) so if anyone fancies a small convoy, let us know. I assume the route will be A12 to Chelmsford then A414 across to Harlow. Also that weekend is the season opener at Santa Pod raceway, the Easter Thunderball. For more information, see their website at http://www.santapod.com/ This month’s meet is on Sunday 21st March at 12:00 at The Old Brewery House, Reepham, north west of Norwich off the A1067. Reepham is on the B1145 about 17 miles from the centre of Norwich (or 70 miles from Fox Street); the pub is on the Market Place. I’m aware that Sunday 21st is Mother’s Day and you may be predisposed to taking your dearly beloved out for the day. Also, booking a pub has been difficult. Therefore, I suggest that you let me know if you will be coming along on Sunday and we ‘play it by ear’ when we are at Reepham in the Old Brewery House. Reepham is a pleasant small town and there are other pubs available that may accommodate us should we wish to have lunch. So, let me know if you’ll be coming along before the meet so that you won’t be left behind if we jump ship to another pub. Here’s the list of East Anglian meets for 2004.
