Hi all, I read so many posts about about poor service, so it is a pleasure to write about good service. I contacted Jim at JRV8 some 10 days ago about buying some parts for my Rover 4.6 rebuild, he was out of stock on a couple of items (cam bearings and crank spacer) so I said I would contact him, in a few days to see if he had the stock.

He sent me a PM to say they were in stock, so I rang him Tuesday afternoon and confirmed the order. as I had missed that days post they could not be dispatched until Wednesday, I hoped they would be here in time for this weekend so we could crack on with the build. On Wednesday I get another PM fro Jim, saying he has posted them next day delivery, the package arrived Thursday morning, when I asked about how much extra I owed him he said, no charge.

Now it was my fault that they could not be posted out until Wednesday, as I did not ring Jim until late afternoon and from previous dealings with him I also know that he goes to the post office to catch the last post around lunch time.

Anyway thanks Jim Great Service, quality branded parts, at a very competitive rate, as usual.

Oh I forgot the best bit, he dispatched them before I even sent him the cheque, a bit different from some the tales you hear.

Thanks a lot Jim, I'll send you the order next week when I've worked out what else I need, one item for sure will be a 270 cam

Kind regards, Lester.

PS Some folks were looking for a crank spacer a couple of weeks ago, Jim charged me £15 for one, he also offered me the correct dims so I could get one turned up for myself, when he was out of stock.

Gentlemen, I am just 'testing the water' on this at the moment. Are there any Cobra owners in or around Belfast who fancy turning up at a wedding to make a lot of noise, take few pics etc etc on Tuesday 22nd of this month. Time to be confirmed but will be around lunchtime. It s a mate of mines wedding.
I am the 'bricking it' best man and would just like to make it a great day, as we all know, Cobra's usually steal the day at weddings.
Depending on the response, I will have to run all this through his gorgeous bride first.
Many thanks guys

Hello,

I am in absolute agony! I have a trapped nerve, and back pain in the mid-section and upper left part of my back! Today was a consultation with a new chiropractor, who will study his results from all the tests he took and next week we will begin treatment.. Which is a bit different to what previous chiropractors have done...

ANYWAY, the point is... Is there any pain killers that work on trapped nerves? I got to work 12hr shifts, so can't have drowsy effects... normally don't take them, put I intend to until treatment begins...

Just got back from an evening meal at the above named, lovely country pub in rural surroundings by a canal, sadly the resturaunt was shite, first suspicions raised were when my eldest ordered chips with his steak, being recently diagnosed diabetic we are counting carbs to figure out his insulin dose, a quite and polite question to the waitress of "would it be to much trouble to put hes chips on a scales so we can figure out his insulin" got the answer "we have no scales!"
Hmm a kitchen that has no scales, odd?
When the food arrived the wifes Country vegetable bake (described as vegetables baked in a cheese sauce) and chips turned out to be 2 breaded vegeburgers, SWMBO says "this isn't a vegetable bake" and got the reply "yes it is, it says so in the box, i can show you if you want!" and to ad insult to injury they gave her a salad instead of the chips.

Just in case your thinking of going there I'd say AVOID!

However, a word of caution, the thread on the inlet on the ones I bought is not 1/4 BSP (I think it might be a metric thread but I didn't bother trying to find out) so if you don't have a quick connector that they fit then they won't be a lot of good. I got over it by brazing my quick connector fittings onto the thread that came with the set but it was a bit of a pain!

The wife to be's birthday is on the horizon and we have been thinking of changing her ford KA for something a little sportier for some time. I have the opportunity to purchase a 2007 Mercedes SLk R171 280 with AMG kit for a reasonable price with low mileage and wondered if anyone has any advice or opinions good or bad

My research tells me the 280 and 350 V6 variants suffer premature cam tensioner wear but there are hundreds of these cars out there that have done 60k plus miles and not had the problem. The one I'm looking at has done 29k miles so we should be ok for 3 ish years which is when I'd look to change again anyway.

On top of this I'm told the sat nav/command can be another dodgy part and like the cam issue expensive if it goes wrong. This one doesn't have it so again should be ok

So other than this is there anything I should look out for or be aware of when I view the car.

Funds won't run to a 55 v8 version or the new model and to be honest I wouldn't like to let Sam loose with that power. I also refuse to finance a car. The 200 I fear would not be powerful enough for when I drive so the 280 seems the best compromise and also the most sensible for insurance etc

The only other option would be a z4 but her preference is the slk for its shape

Any advice welcomed.
