Access to Cobraclub.com

Anybody any ideas why one of our members, who uses Tesco.net cannot get onto this website ?

He tells me that whenever he types the address, he gets a message saying something like "address unavailable". Is this a problem related to his computer setup or the Tesco software ?

Someone else took their laptop and used his phone point and was able to get in, so it's not phone line related.

Help.

Paul B

Tesco.net is run by NTL, and Osgood had a problem when he was with NTL, he changed to someone else and the problem was solved.

Re: Access to Cobraclub.com

I think the problem is more likely to be with the DNS setting. Every computer needs to use a DNS server to find URL addresses. (www.cobraclub.com etc) This is normally setup automatically when a connection is made to the internet using a Dial-up connector.

If ADSL or Cable are used with either a modem or router, then the DNS setting is normally enetered manually.

Tesco.Net use the following DNS:

Primary 194.168.4.100
Sceondary 194.168.8.100

Connect to the tesco.net website and look up
"How to check the connection settings in ???" and enter the DNS setting listed above.

I hope that helps.

Unfortunately not with Erics set-up, I remote assistanced his PC, and DNS lookup worked, however an http request and a ping was dropped. The default dialup gateway could not route to the subnet, as they hadn't updated the released ip subnets that RIPE had released to a whole bunch is ISPs.

The subnets that they should have been able to route to were released back in 2003, so they really should have updated their systems.

Had the same issue with Blueyonder a while ago, but they got their act together and sorted the route redistribution issue out.

Re: Access to Cobraclub.com

Hi

I have got the exact same problem, firstly it is entirly a problem with Tesco.net and no problem with your friends computer.

I am managing with tesco.net at the moment until broadband arrives in about a couple of months.

The way to get on the site using tesco.net is to connect as usual and check the connected Ip address with the tesco dial up icon in the sytem bar/tray. If the IP address given starts with '217' then there is no access to the site any other IP address will be ok.

Unfortunately the most common IP address is 217, but I just keep relogging in until a different IP appears, normally only 3or 4 times is needed but sometimes I have to wait a few minutes and try again.

Not really a solution but more of a work arround.

Any way hope this helps

Chris
