Internet Explorer Problem

I hope that someone can help me with a frustrating problem that my PC seems to have developed recently.

When using the Internet, I keep getting an error box appear that appears be generated from Internet Explorer which I use.

The error messages says

“ Internet Explorer encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem

We have created and error report that you can send to help us improve Internet Explorer. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.

To see what data this error report contains click here”

There are then two boxes to click on, one says send error report, the other says don’t send.

The message comes up on a variety of different sites that I visit, and I can find no common theme or reason as to why this is happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is increasing frustrating.

Thanks very much

Andy.

You could try re-installing Internet Explorer from microsoft.com

Or you can do the same as me and download Mozilla Firefox. I did this when I was sick of IE closing down with the error message for no apparent reason. Firefox seems to work fine although it has closed itself down with an error twice in the last 7 or 8 months.

I'll second that Mozilla Firefox is excellent

Re: Internet Explorer Problem

Mozilla Firefox all the way! Download at http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Get used to extensions and tabbed browsing and there is no way back to IE (and you get enhanced security and stability at the same time)!

My favorite extensions:

Adblock (to get rid of all annoying advertisement that pollutes the net)
Forecastfox (weather forecast in the status bar, not essential but nice to look at)
PDF Download (let you decide if you want to download or open linked PDF-files)
Tab Clicking Options (I like to double click on tabs to close them)
Plain Text Links (let you select unlinked URLs and open them in a new tab or window)
Translate (let you select foreign text and have it translated with a click)

Re: Internet Explorer Problem

When did Netscape Navigator become Mozilla Firefox?

Or is this a "senior" question?

Re: Internet Explorer Problem

Don't go to the BBC Topgear site - it crashes my Firefox browser (unless it's one of the extensions I've got installed)
