Skype

I see that a few people on the Forum have downloaded Skype, I've tried it through a microphone and speakers and its still got the echo and time lapse, what's it like with a USB phone.

Re: Skype

Mike I use Skype to call people all over the world from Japan. I have high speed internet connection and a combined mike and earphone device and have no probs whatsoever with clarity etc.

Agreed - you need the combined headset thingy to cut out the echo/feedback/delay.

Re: Skype

I signed up some time ago to make sure I had my name available, but i have not as yet used it. to be honest i only have one contact in my list and that seems to be a robin hood driver .

I was thinking of getting a cheepo handset @£25 they seem to have built in echo control and user ID.
Any comments?

Sound card phono plugs or USB, as I see Amazon are selling some USB ones for £21.

Re: Skype

Try and avoid the USB route. Phono delivers crisp direct sound. Plantronics give u good quality for the price too!

Although, a day after I added my skype details here, I had someone try to add me, not from this forum, but some bbc channel from CA!

Skype is good though!

Re: Skype

Is there a minimum computer standard I need for Skype; our domestic machine (this one) is not very new and operates on a dial up.......it serves our needs; I have all the hitec stuff at work.
