Very low cost, Its free, that's what I like, but do I really need it.

Hi Mike,

I use VLC player on my computer, usually when Windows Media (WM) Player won't play movie files. I don't know if you have ever experienced it, but sometimes WM Player will pop up a box saying that it can't find the required codecs to play to file, or something along those lines. Well, in all those cases that I have come across, or where WM player will only play the sound and not display the video, VLC player will play the file without a problem. Another thing that VLC player is good for is playing Multi-region DVDs. WM player won't do this either!

So, all in all, VLC player is quite handy to have on your computer, and its simple to use. Not quite as pretty as WM player though, but it does the job just fine.

also VLC allows you to play a file thats still downloading. This can be handy for previewing a film before its finished to make sure it is what it says it is (non copyright material only of course . You just need to find the temp file thats being written to and open it.
