Hi,

Does anyone know much about laptops??

Was thinking of getting one to run my cad programme on for kitchens and general use .

what does the spec sound like on this and is it good bad or great

Intel Centrino Duo T2300
iLink
Intel Media Accelerator 900 128Mb UMA
!5.4 " TFT Flat Screen Trybrite WXGA
60gb hard drive
1024MB DDR2 Ram
DVD dual layer
Integrated WiFi 802 11b/g

Re: Laptop

Hi Gareth,

When it comes to a laptops dont focus too much on the specs, give more attention to the manufactuer and stick with the more reputable ones.
ie Toshiba, Sony etc as the build quality is worth paying extra for.

Re: Laptop

Hi Gareth.
@ prices from £299 they are throw away money from PC World. It might not be up to much but should be fine so long as you don't end up using it for downloading gigs and gigs of stuff off the net and saving all your videos and music on it and playing massive games.

Re: Laptop

A friend of mine studied the Laptop market for ages before purchasing and decided on one from the Acer Aspire series, he reckons its excellent value for money.

Comet also sell them. :thumb: :thumb:

Re: Laptop

Acer laprops are good VFM and offer the advantage of driver updates over the internet etc.
As prev said steer clear of pcw~~~d type machines (eg emachines, advent, pacard b@@@@@@s etc).
Pentiums are good for powerfull work eg graphics and dvds.Celerons are cheap and good for t'internet and office applications. Centrinos are more powerful than celerons, but not so powerful as pentiums.
Dell do a good budget range aswell
