DVD in Computer

Hi Chaps

Got a DVD video for Christmas and it works fine in the normal DVD player, but it won't work in the computer, the drive starts to spin up as soon as it's inserted and just keeps spinning, the drive will not recognise it.

I've read on a couple of forums that even copy protected discs should play on computers. and they have suggested that it could be a faulty disc.

Any ideas.

Re: DVD in Computer

Hi Mike
Have you tried cleaning the dvd? Is it the same region as your home dvd player (eg region two for UK)?
Can you try dvd in a laptop / another pc?
Cheers
Kevin

Yes everything ok, the computer plays every other DVD disc apart from this one.

I'll have to try it on another computer. :thumb:

The problem is you`re too old

Find a 10 year old relative/neighbour - they will soon fix it

You`re welcome :thumb:

You don`t have to be mental to build a kitcar - but it definitely helps.

Wow, thanks Paul, that's a great help. :thumb:

Anyway back to the problem, my mates laptop will recognise the disk and play it.

I've tried 10 other of my DVD's and they all work fine.

Re: DVD in Computer

Some drives are more forgiving than others.
You can get 'firmware' upgrades, which update the hardware inside your dvd writer. You can find the exact model of your DVD drive from nero. Then google the make/model no. and word firmware. That may sort your probs out.
Is it region two? and do other region two dvds work fine?
cheers

If it's the "Little Britain" DVD, remember "The computer says NO!":rotfl:

Kev

Yes it's set to region 2 and all other DVD's work fine, the DVD player is only 2 months old, I'll check for firmware upgrade.
