Hello,

When people post pictures in threads why can't I see where to access them?

Access them?

Do you mean they don't show up when you are reading the thread or are you having troubles posting your own pics.

Craig.

Craggle,

When you are viewing a thread, are you supposed to see a thumbnail or click on an icon?

Maybe you could add a pic yourselfand tell me what I'm supposed to see.

If you are logged in, you will see a thumbnail for an image, or if it is not an image you will see a link, for example a powerpoint presentation will show as a link.

I tend to use Photobucket now for my pictures.

I joined another forum for another interest (nothing dodgy) and they don't allow pictures as attachments as they said it takes up too much server space to store them all. They just suggest using one of the photo hosting sites and using the add image button to add the direct link to your picture.

When you do this they look like the one below...

No thumb nails, Just a big picture. If anyone doesn't like this idea let me know and I will change my ways. Perhaps

Craig.

These pictures upset the display attributes of this site and make the pages too wide to be viewed easily.

Yep, but the only problem with that is whoever browses the post has to download the huge image and not just a thumb.

Also, if I was on a small screen resolution that would push the screen size too far out, which is a PITA.

No idea which forum that was but its really not the case.

Correctly managed, images do not take up that much space. And disk drives are very very cheap these days.

On the reply to thread window (that I'm typing in at the moment) there is a button 5th from right, Bottom row. If you place your mouse over it, It should say "insert image" If you click on it a window will pop up saying "please enter the URL of your image".

Go to your photobucket account and find the picture you want to add then click on the "direct link" word under the thumbnail. This should bring up a tiny window saying coppied which you can the paste into the "insert image" window on the Cobra club site.
It should add some [IMG] either side of your link and it should work.

If you don't have a botofucket account they are free and easy to set up.

Craig.

Fair point Rob.

The forum in question was a site that has 1021 members and relies on photos in near enough every post!

Here if you want to look.

Britmodeller.com (Powered by Invision Power Board)

Must admit I did get annoyed by large pictures in posts when I was on dialup but with broadband I don't really think about it anymore.
If it really annoys anyone let me know and I restrict the picture size a bit.

Craig.
