Mitsubishi Air Con

Hi chaps, bit of info from you knowledgeable lot. In the house I've just bought the previous owners have fitted a Mitsubishi air con unit in the bedroom with the main fan unit outside. Might be a dumb question, but what runs in the pipes from the main unit outside to the unit inside, is it just water, as I want to remove it and don't want to end up with some sort of fluid peeing all over the bedroom.

If anybody would like a fully working free air con unit, come and remove it and it's yours.

On mine I have a drain that dumps the condensed water outside. But the 2 lagged pipes from the unit to the fan are the refrigerant carrying pipes. Its illegal to dump this stuff to atmosphere intentionally and should be captured.

No, don't need one, with the balcony's all round the house, it stays reasonably cool inside.

Gonch is right.

Depending on the age of the unit probably something like 407C. Should have a sticker on the side of the external unit. Or on the compressor (blue thing inside the external unit)
It needs to be recovered profesionally. Yes that means wonga!

They can sometimes "spring a leak" though.

chlorofluorocarbon - a molecule that contains chlorine, fluorine, and carbon atoms. Chlorofluorocarbons are also called CFCs.

dichlorodifluoromethane Dichlorodifluoromethane is an example of a CFC, and it was once used as a refrigerant before it was discovered that CFCs can cause ozone depletion.

So you knew all along what was in the pipes - why ask?
