lost contacts in outlook exp

hi, i have lost the contacts at the bootom left of outlook exp, i have looked on all the tabs, could someone please put me out of my misery and tell me how to do this simple task.and restore the contacts list

At this point, probably not. What did you do to loose them in the first place?

And this will be a good school to learn to make backups (by exporting your addressbook).

The contacts are made up of addresses in your Address Book, contacts on MSN and other applications. Did you have and do you still have entries in your address book? If not have a look for a wab file in c:/windows/application Data/Microsoft/Address Book. If there is nothing there it looks as if it may have been deleted or moved, try doing a global search on *.wab or use undelete.

Have you tried the obvious?

Open outlook express, click on View (at the top, near the left) then Layout and make sure there is a 'tick' in the box next to contacts.

The above is for Outlook Express 6, but is similar for the other versions too.
