The final saga of my ebay engine.....

Back in September I 'bought' an engine from a guy called strokermotors, (Rodger Bittner) - to cut a long story short - lots of negotiating for it's delivery resulted in a no show of the engine. I've since heard from plenty of other people who've been had by this guy (http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...threadid=57904)

I got a debt recovery company on to him who reckoned they had a good success rate in this kind of thing - I heard from them this morning and they'd managed to find out that my engine did exist but had been resold to somebody else in October - they had spoken to the buyer and the engine was not at all how it had been described most notably windsor jnr heads instead of roush (apparently made 441hp on the dyno though! gutted ). Anyway, they tell me this has to go through the Martin County Sheriff dept as a criminal proceeding and it's the end of the road for debt recovery as he has set out to defraud and is resisting legal threats.

All this means I won't see any of my $2,500 back, I'll be booting my AK out early next year once my old engine is back up and running as this has just left a bitter (bittner?) taste in my mouth....

Re: The final saga of my ebay engine.....

Smash,

That is just simply unbelievable!

Sorry to hear it happen to such a good guy - I did see this guy on ebay and thought his prices were very good.
I can understand why you used him, with no feedback etc. - everyone has to start somewhere right? - you were good enough to give him a chance and he stitched you (and others) up - This guys needs a bloody good kicking!!!

Just shows the dangers of dealing with the unknown, but at those prices it is soooo tempting with the strength of the pound etc.

Just rebuild what you have and get it back on the road - remember the good times! There is a whole summer ahead of us - Don't sell it because of this muppet !!

Smash,

These were the people that sprang to mind, but I think they are a different company??? (They are more expensive - I think the other guy is trading off their name a little bit!!)

www.strokermotor.com

Oh yes, and like Mike says - try not to let it spoil your Christmas.

As Gumball say's "remember the good times". Don't be doing anything stupid like outing the cob. You must still be able to smell the open road.
We have all fallen foul of these type of people in one way or another.
Stay happy and smile.
There are a lot of guy's sorry to hear your story.
Wish you luck.

Sorry to hear the bad news.
You didn`t happen to pay by credit card did you? - Insurance??
Don`t sell the cob just because someone did this - or even if you do decide to sell at least use the money for a plane ticket to go find the MO###R F####R

Re: The final saga of my ebay engine.....

Please try the courts, i cant imagine why they said criminal proceedings. It does get very difficult in criminal prosecutions, namely due to the civil debt and the fact that this is what civil courts are set up to deal with. Problem is that the engine had existed in the 1st place. you might count your stars in the fact that if the integrity of the supplier is anything to go by, then maybe it was best the engine didn't come to you anyway..

Go give a telephone call to whoever they suggest anyway to cover any corner. I am sure you are owed in aush a way that bailiffs can seize property to the value to which you are owed.

Trading standards also may apply, as it seems he's just up to no good. Threaten watchdog and even stand outside outside his premises if he's local enough and make your voice heard.and your banners seen. I'd even join you and so would many others if it was planned I am sure.

Keep us informed

Re: The final saga of my ebay engine.....

This thread has been running for AGES on the US forum, there are maybe dozens of people in the same boat. The amount of money owed is huge so I suspect that even if the guy is made bankrupt no-one will get anything much out of it. Time to put that one down to 'experience' I'm afraid.
