Number plates

Hi there, I have lost my number plate which was a silver and black plate with a nice silver border, Halfords can only order silver and black plates with no border, does anyone know of other suppliers?? Many thanks

Tink - I may just be getting (even) more cynical in my old age, but something strikes me as "odd" about this thread and the opening post. How, exactly, does one "lose" a number plate?

And bearing in mind the quasi-legality of black and silver number plates, and the lengths our beloved Gov't has gone to, to control the issue of all number plates (a magnificent example of over-regulation of course, and Gov't interference in our lives), I am just slightly suspicious of someone asking for details of a supplier of "display" plates. Anyone can pretend to be be anything on this 'net thingy.

Anyone else feel this way, or is it just me? I don't mind if it is just me, of course.

I think it must be just you mate, I could easily loose my front plate, as it is just held on with pipe clips pushed on to the nudge bar.

Regarding the question of the integrity of the person who's posted, I think they must be genuine as the spelling is to good for a civil servant, plus any silly bugger can do a search on Google.

Hi Wilf, Hope You had a good Christmas and get completely hammered tonight. Correct me if I am wrong though, but shortly after someone fitted their plates at our monthly meets didn't the back one fall off whilst the owner was having a drink inside the Pub

When I replaced my broken! silver/black/silver border plate recently I had to supply a copy of the V5, my driving licence and a utility bill to get one made.
Because I go to Halfords a lot to get bits for bikes I have seen people there struggling to get plates made up.
This is one piece of jobsworth of which I approve.
I got mine through an advert in Classic and Sportscar.

Many thanks for your responses, it was a genuine query, I should have checked the screws holding the plate on after a run in with a number of speed ramps!

Sally, if you want - ahem - Display Plates - ahem, then there is a go faster boy racer car shop in the BroadSteet Mall in Reading that does them (it definatly does the plastic type as I now have a small front plate for mine at last)

These guys are in Ireland so they can "legally" supply you with a black and silver plate.
It comes in a form similar to a foreign plate (French?) but I think it looks all the better for it.
Good quality and prompt service, I'd recommend them.

I ve just got some plates made up black and silver acrylic from Walsall, Bescot Market, open on a Sunday on the car park of the Walsall Football Club. Spacing as i wanted.

You can get standard white / yellow plates while you wait £15.00 , but black / silver plates by the tuesday. £25.00

Spaced how you like. my plate thats for sale was slightly modified just by changing the spacing position between the numbers.
