Side repeaters...

Folks,

I was wondering whereabouts people have found the best location for side repeaters (obviously on the side of the car!). I thought about placing mine just above the side grills or just behind the front wheel arches.

Is there a general consensus that says they should be fitted at position X or is it just individual preference?

Where have otheres fitted their?

Thanks,
Tony B

RE: Side repeaters...

Good question Tony, you beat me to asking it, It does appear that most people put them above the side vents it looks OK there I reckon.

What are the nice little round or oval jobs that I've seen, what car are they sourced from? Anyone know? "Come on Dave, spill the beans".

If people intend to remove them post SVA (TUT! TUT!)

have they been stuck on or have the holes been filled in after removal?

Are they a legal requirement for subsequent MOT's?

cheers

RE: Side repeaters...

I haven't fitted mine yet but they are going to go into aluminium mesh inside the vents.

Having said that. I don't know where to put them once I put grilles in there post SVA

RE: Side repeaters...

I have some small oval ones from a Ford Mondeo. I have seen them in two sizes. The firdst is about 1.5 inches, the second around 3 inches wide. I have the ones that are 1.5 inches wide.

RE: Side repeaters...

I don't believe they are required to be fitted for MOT - If they are fitted however they need to be in working order.

RE: Side repeaters...

Just make sure that they are at the required height above ground and can be viewed from the appropriate angles as per the sva manual!!

Absolutely right Vince,

the best place for side repeaters for a Cobra is in the dustbin!

RE: Side repeaters...

I get my amber ones from Dax......And then end up changing them for the white lensed ones from a local motor factors. The reason for this is that the motor factor ones are of a poor quality and the spade terminals prefere to fold up when i try to put the wires on, they are OK for SVA though, i usually fit the white lense and the Ford bulb holder as they are the same patern.

RE: Side repeaters...

I fitted some bog std ones from Stafford for SVA and then covered up the holes with the "Powered by Ford" badges.
No problems at MOT time, they do not seem to be required for that, but as someone said, if fitted they have to work.
