Open Trace - USA

Last weekend there was an open track event at Pocono International Raceway in PA, USA. Cost was 170.00 US per day which gave you 4 20 minute sessions on the 1.5 mile North Course. Novices recieved instruction. There were about 5 different proficiency groups.

Here is a pic of me with a Jag trying to catch up with me. More pics at

RE: Open Trace - USA

Roscoe - looks like you had a great day. The problem with similar events here in the Uk (we call 'em Trackdays) is that there are inevitably hordes of Lotus 7 clones there. Those damm things are all over me in the turns, although I can usually wet all over them on the straights! Eventually though, you end up spinning out trying to stay ahead of them (well I do, but that's probably down to me being a crap driver, and succumbing to the "red mist"!).

The other thing is that these events can be very hard on your car - certainly I took many thousands of miles of life off my tyres, cooked the rear disc pads, and made my rear end leak (but thats another story).

Good pictures over on clucobra though, does this make you a member of club cranky??? You aiming for the 10% club as well??

That's Ok - just don't tell Turk & Co that I speak with you here!!!

It's a bit worrying actually, since I do venture onto open track events occasionally (although not so far this year I must admit), that I might also be creeping up to about the 3% mark!

Anyway, must go, lots of bits to polish for next weekend.
