Yes... it is going to happen. Why all this beurocracy? SVA then the registration process. Then an MOT... has the world gone mad? Too much disposable income with our toys that we must be "taxed" at every given oportunity? Well now I have seen the light. I have it on good authority that you will be able to do "the whole nine yards" at the SVA within about 18 months. So here goes... SVA booked... pass... check everything... Age related plate... MOT... drive it to the nearest garage that makes number plates and away you go.... No... can't be so... not from government agencys... talking to each other... no never... I can't belive it. However, it is from a VERY reliable sorce... Regards Vince@gledhill.info

RE: Yes... it is going to happen. I have been informed that the government agencys have been set a task of reducing the red tape involved in all their procedures. The SVA test and registration process being one of them. Apparently years ago large garages had to fill in forms and take them into the local DVLA to do the first registering of all vehicles. It is all now done on computer. This is the way it will go for the SVA. The SVA testers will be like a large garage, and will submit and register your vehicle for you. Good move I say. Anything that simplifies the process. Regards Vince Time served Auto Electrician Lucas Leeds 1979-1983

RE: Yes... it is going to happen. Thanks! Good news indeed (if it happens!) I guess the VRO staff will all start getting worried about jobs then...

RE: Yes... it is going to happen. The other thing that is going to happen is the plugging of the various loopholes. Wrapping sharp bits in bubblewrap for the SVA has already gone. Reconditioned parts in new-registered vehicles and emissions testing based on the age of the block are fairly obvious targets. John
