Factory Five in UK??

Anyone out there built a Factory Five kit and registered in the UK? I've looked carefully at their product and aside from being LHD (not the end of the world) and obvious minor snags like non E marked lights cannot see it being a major hassle to SVA.
By the time you add on all the shipping and VAT and duty it still works out very competitive compared to any of the better UK kits.
I've gone through the build manual and nothing horrendous crops up there either.
I'm tempted and like their design and engineering- anyone know anything I'm missing?
Besides, I love the spec racer look....!
there are also breakers in the US who will pallet all the donor parts you need for under $3000 (that's GBP 1600 for engine, trans, axles (inc LSD) etc).

Thanks,
Chas32

Hi Chas

Did you go the Factory Five route after all, or did you decide on something else?

Just jack up the rear suspension and strap a sideboard under the boot floor of your Sumo and hey presto you've got one.

What else can we expect from this make. Why are they so popular over the pond if they aren't up to it.
I have never seen one in real life and have not heard badly of them.

They are popular because of the following.

1. They are a single donor.
2. The yanks have no bends in their roads, so handling isn't a problem.

I too would be interested to know why people do or do not like the factory five. Why is it so popular over the pond?

Re: Factory Five in UK??

They are popular in the same way that Robin Hood 7's are popular over here.
