| Jag based Pilgrim Sumo- How many? Just a moment of bordom while having nothing to do over the bank holiday weekend has got me thinking. Just how many people are building Jag based pilgrim sumos. I definatly know of one other (big Thirsty) Ian Briggs but are there any more out there. I ask this as Pilgrim are meant to be pushing this model now and I cant believe that if there is more Jag Sumo builders out there they havent posted yet. They either dont know about the site or can get over all the problems I had to without posting on the forums. Just a little thought as more people to ask for help on the Jag based side of things then the better. Its been a struggle at times but its all coming together now and will be better for going the Jag route in the long run im sure. Anthony

| Re: Jag based Pilgrim Sumo- How many? Ah, I,ve got over that one, Just wind springs down to there lowest setting , find very rough road and drive up and down with wheels hitting arches until the noise stops. Then find road with speed bumps and drive up and down until sump is battered s!!!less. Take car (via trailer and AA) home and weld plate over various holes in sump and repair arches to there new shape as required. no more problems. Gareth

| Re: Jag based Pilgrim Sumo- How many? I visited Pilgrim about 4-5 years ago when I first started thinking about building a Cobra copy. At the time I visited I was shown around by Den and When I mentioned the Jag based car he said it wasn't worth the extra hassle and weight penalty over the Ford components. I explained I needed a jag based car as I had already stripped a donor car and reconditioned all the suspension compents. I left after buying a build manual for the sierra/Granada car and being given a Jag based build manual for free. I got the distinct impression that they did not want to make or sell me a Jag based car. That is the main reason I decided to go with Dax. Maybe things have changed with the new owners. Just a couple of other things that put me off the Pilgrim was the un-shortend rear axle so you cant use deep dish wheels and the idea of welding a steel steering arm to the cast upright seemed dodgy to me. Just my expreience and thoughts though.... Craig.

| Re: Jag based Pilgrim Sumo- How many? I bought the 6th Jag Based kit in 1993 and no it doesn't look like a 4x4. I have set it up with real ground clearance and suspension travel as the roads round here are quite rough, speed bumps are not a problem. It looks more like an original's ride height. I have modified the chassis a bit eg additional reinforments, engine move back 8 inches, no welded steering arms! Regards Neil |
