Sometimes things just don't go your way!

Just a wee note to get it off my chest.

Set myself a couple of little goals to do today.
Sort clutch pipe, pedal and handbrake.

Go to car and put key in to let steering lock off. ARGH! Where's the key???

30 mins later got the steering free and push back. Run over foot and trap leg. AARRGGH!

Under car remove temporarily fitted flex pipe. Ping spanner breaks AAARRGGHH!

Fit dowty seal, tighten and fit other end to bracket. Nicely done if i say so myself. Get up to admire handy work.. AAAAARRRGGGGHHH! hit head on brake servo assembly.

Time for a brew. AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH! spilt the lot down my leg.. Pil***k!

Dry out and manage to drink the next cup, without necessitating a bib.

Form copper pipe to go from master cylinder to flex pipe. AAARRRGGGHHH! Thumb eminates a series of sickening clicks and creaks like bone on bone. Swells up nicely. Plenty of ice and ok.

Back to work (idiot), can't grip properly drop hammer on foot. Luckily always wear toetecors.

Pipe work sorted, now to pedal. Required a small bracket to the rear to allow the pedal to meet the master cylinder push rod. Cut Cut, Grind Grind, Weld... Sniff Sniff... What's Burning? AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHH!

One dowsing later and dried out. New overalls put on. I know should have given up hours ago, but you know how it is.

Finally on to the easy bit (Yeah right)
Even i could do this right (HA!)

change handbrake lever for a lower one, with better connecting rod. Needs a few brackets, Welded on with no calamities. Fit lever. Not bad me thinks. Lets connect it up and try it. Fit connecting rod.. I said fit connecting rod... AAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!
That's the last straw, Cut the whole lot off and put the original back on, then found out just why it looked wrong in the first place. There was a piece of metal wedged in the lever that fell out when i attacked it. (probably the only high point of the day.)

Right, i thought, that's it, i had damaged myself enough and got so little actually achieved for the amount of trouble i had. Packed tools away, picked welder up and promptly the handle fell off. AARRRGGHHHHH!

Push chassis back... AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!! Trap my leg in the same place. When will i learn that that's there???

Gave up , threw rest of tools in shed and locked door. unlocked door to put overalls in. Unlocked door again to get car keys out. Unlocked door again to answer phone ringing like a madman. Get an earfull of abuse about 'Your bloody dog won't stop barking' only to let the poor twerp on the other end know i don't have a dog. 'Oh sorry mate. Wrong number'

Finally get home, tired, frustrated and hungry. Burn tea and sit down.
Thinks to myself lets post a note on the forum to try to soothe my tension... Only to have to do it twice as halfway through i hit the wrong key and end up on E-bay......

After all that i don't know whether to risk starting the manifolds tomorrow or just quit while i am not ahead and have a day off................

Hi Steam Rotter.
That is my life and has been 6 days a week for too many years.

Adrian.
If push comes to shove do you have a more sensible speedo sensor that you could fit just for the test? If not I think you'd better get one ASAP form either GD or Speedy Cables.

Re: Sometimes things just don't go your way!

Dave,

Theres a guy in Weymouth building a GD and he has both a Tremec 600? box and a speedo sender bought before he realised the box already came with one. He's waiting for my cheque to clear and is sending it off to me. (All possible haste please Ricahrd, as i need to get it in and tested before the 5th!!!!)

(Took me a while to remember how to fill out a cheque, not something i do anymore, i do all my banking online, instantaneous transfers!)

Hopefully all covered then. If/when i get mine working i can sell the sender to another builder . :thumb:

Re: Sometimes things just don't go your way!

If you need some new swear words, drop me a line - I'm inventing new ones all the time...

"Frupping" is a useful one - can be used thus:

"Frupping thing!!"
"Frupping bloody thing!!"
"Where is that frupping screwdriver bit?!!"
"Frup frup frup..."

Not usually a problem cause the Frupping thing is usually buried in my hand/thumb/thigh!!!!

Could probably add to your list and enter them into the Frollings ficktionary

We'd make a packet

Cheers
