Re: Stoneleigh

The frustration is understandable Rob but, sadly for those doing the graft on behalf of the members, this situation is the same with just about every organising body.
On a positive note it must signify that the rank and file are more than satisfied. If that were not the case it would have been standing room only :thumb: :thumb:

Robert,
maybe the AGM should be held at the same time as the National Meeting, at least everyone who is a member in the North will go, or you could just go back to having the National Day somewhere central so as more people would attend the National Day, I wonder how 180 odd cars compares to the last Elvington meeting? I also wonder how many cars were at the Duxford National Day compared to Elvington?:thumb:

Elvington - About 155 cars (this was our first meet of the kind, we expect more this year, how long has stoneleigh been going?).
Duxford - About 120 cars.

So, not that much difference really. and STILL only 7 members at the AGM.

Next time, we will unelect ourselves and then let the members sort it out.

Come on guys, the AGM is for the members, if you don't bother turning up, what is the point???

I am really sorry that Elvington is sooo far up north, but if people make the effort to come, they might actually enjoy themselves, we have organised quite a bit for the weekend, as opposed to Duxford where you just turn up, park and thats about it.

Re: Stoneleigh

Have to say it is a bit rich to complain about the national day when so many owners are just a 2 minute walk away and just cant be bothered to attend. It seams that members are all too happy to let people in the committee sort all the stuff out, and then just turn up and complain because it does not suit them. If you want things to change get up and do something about it and stop just complaining after people have put so much effort in for your benefit ALL FOR FREE as no one on the committee gets anything for all their hard work. :finger: :finger:

Rob

The trouble with this is no one would be around to notice

You could really throw your teddy out the cot and shut this site down until everyone pledge to support THEIR club in some way.

Steve

Re: Stoneleigh

Being a committee member for a small club like ours is a thankless task, as I know.

What you see as "apathy" I see as "contentment". Yes - the club is successful, not least financially, and the membership sees no need to raise anything even remotely contentious with the committee!

I also suspect that this website is actually a major contributing factor to the lack of members turning up for the AGM - most subjects which, in the normal way, might be brought up at an AGM tend to get well-aired here. And please don't take that in a negative way - I mean it positively.

Lest anyone forget, a big "thank you " is actually due to the club committee members for their efforts. Let me be the first to propose that.

Lastly - if you are going to hold the AGM at Stoneleigh, and no reason not to, why go off to some hall away from the action? Do it in or around the Club tent. You might get a few more turning up? Just a thought.

Again - thanks.

Re: Stoneleigh

I have been reading this thread with interest. I was at Stoneleigh on Saturday and for what ever reason, I didn't evn know there was an AGM. I'm sure that I have been told, but just forgot. I did see a crowd of people sat round in a circle not far from the cobra club flag, but I wasn't brave enough to introduce myself. I did see Rodders sat down with another couple, but by the time I got round to going to see him, he was packing up and about to leave. By the way rodders I first met you at the Autumn Dax open day in 2003. Thanks for giving me a laugh when you were leaving by revving up, and then stalling your car :thumb: . Getting back to the subject in hand, I' m not normally a shy person, but it is daunting for first timers to make the first move and introduce themselves, especially when they haven't finished building their car. I promise next time I will make more of an effort and try to get involved. Please don't get the impression that we take all you commitee members for granted, some of us do want to say hello and get involved, but were just a bit shy. I will be at Donnington hopefully later in the year, so I will introduce myself.

Cheers
Lee
