1/4 mile

I'm going to Santa Pod on the 8th April 01 on their Run what you Brung day.

Any body got any experience of running a Cobra replica down the strip?

Any tips; hints; or comments welcome.

It's a Dax with a Chevy 350 ZZ4 and Tremec 5 speed

what time might I expect?

Regards Clive

RE: 1/4 mile

Hi Clive
Been to quite a few meets at Santa Pod, but never seen any Cobras running so can't give you much info or help on times.

I've marked the date in my diary and will come along to see how you get on. If the weather's good I'll bring my Cobra along too sounds like a blast :7

John

LAST EDITED ON 19-Jan-01 AT 08:32*PM (GMT)[p]I shall definitely be going along with my new shiny engine and blower. Loads of horses can't wait to see what it will do.

John & Clive, do you want to meet at my house as I am not far from the pod.

Best Regards

Rob

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.

RE: 1/4 mile

Oooh, that. Well I seem to have this aim to reach the land speed record on the M1, and what better car to do it in than a GD with a 600 Hp engine.

Or maybe its my lemming tendency coming out, better make sure the life insurance is stacked up

Best Regards

RE: 1/4 mile

Well it sound the business. Do you have problems with under bonnet clearance, or do you have a large whole in the bonnet now?

600 ponies sounds great :7 , can't wait to see and hear that.

What blower did you go for? Not that from one moment I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but you never know.....

RE: 1/4 mile

I went for an ATI Procharger in the end which is a centrifugal blower not a roots blower. It sits way down in the engine bay and if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't see it.

The only giveaway is the carb cover, as the filter is now on the intake of the blower.

There is also a whacking great big air to air intercooler for that little bit more HP.

The engine only produces around 300 hp naturally aspirated and wil the blower it is increase to around 520. The intercooler then adds an additional 50-80hp due to the cooling properties of the intercooler.

Cold air means more horses.

Best Regards

Rob

PS Can't wait to go out in the summer hunting Porsche
