SRV8, can anyone help?

Hello all

I need some info/ help. Listed on ebay at the moment is a SRV8, item no. 4561145571, currently at 5k. Can anyone tell me if all that is described within the ad rings true please. The guy states within the ad: 'A RARE SOUTHERN ROADCRAFT KIT CAR WITH EXTRA WIDE ARCHES WHICH MAKE OTHER KITS LOOK FEEBLE' Wide arches? what on a SRV8? The car will need to be SVA'd and I will, if purchased, want to put a 302 engine in it (I need a manual gearbox for the engine I have if anyone knows of anyone who has one for sale!) I like the look of the Cobra listed EXCEPT FOR THE HORRIBLE LOOKING RUBBER AERIAL ATTACHED TO THE REAR OF THE CAR (Why would anyone do such a thing!!! )

All help and opinions will be gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance

Jason

Re: SRV8, can anyone help?

Jason, just had a quick look at the ad, to me it looks a bit tatty and will probably need stripping at least in part so as to move forward with the build. Yes you will need to get it SVA'd but thats not too much of a problem etc etc. Arches do look a bit wider than standard, might be worth giving Madgwicks a ring and asking if this was a factory option or not, cant say that I have seen one that wide. If you want to compare cars check photos in my garage and Dave n, as well, in fact daves has the 302 fitted.

Andy

Re: the angle of the shocks, he states in the ad that he has spent k's on the suspension set up, me thinks someone who hasn't worked on a Cobra before has had a go at setting it up it looks VERY low to me or can they be brought down that low? as for the comment from Mike T I agree it does look a bit viperish!

Re: SRV8, can anyone help?

I just took another look at the Cobra and noticed that on the n/s bulkhead there seems to be a plate that has putty around it, is this normal? Dave N. kindly said he was going to take some pics of his from the same angle as the one advertidsed, thanks Dave:thumb: .

Re: SRV8, can anyone help?

Stay away from it. It's definately not a SR Cobra! He says it's had a £3000 paint job in black, but it looks green?? Bulk heads, looks like a sumo, with a viper body??

Re: SRV8, can anyone help?

Agreed.
Definately not an SR.
Chassis around the front of the engine is wrong.
The steering rack mounts are nothing like the SR either.
The wide arches point to it being one of the Vipers. Either Classic replicas or Cobretti? May even be earlier than them.
