Jag Splined Hubs

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if Jag splined hubs (e-type) will fit the later model (series 2/3) uprights and driveshafts. Not actually for a Cobra but for a possible future project building an XKSS replica (for my wife) where I would like to fit the Dunlop splined wheels and would therefor need to choose the correct front and rear suspension components.

Myles.

Not a definative answer, but if you compare part no's on here it may give a clue. For example I see the later E Type front stub axle is the same no as the early XJ. HTH :thumb: http://www.sngbarratt.com/catalogue.htm

Re: Jag Splined Hubs

That's great, just downloaded their catalogue, loads of good info and as you say, a little cross-referencing should get the answers I need. Thanks.

Re: Jag Splined Hubs

Myles - you can buy new the necessary hubs from various Jag suppliers. From memory, you will have to check for clearance to the brake calipers with the wire wheels, I know I have seen spacers fitted to cure this in the past. btw, if it is a Suffolk Cars SS100, then they will know exactly how to go about it. Unless of course, it isn't. LOL

Re: Jag Splined Hubs

Wilf: my thoughts at the moment are along the lines of using the Realm Engineering (aka Ram) Reynard D-Type chassis and make an ally body to go on it. One of my neighbours makes bodies and can help. The wheels are Dunlop cast alloy rather the wires but I guess the same clearance issues exist. These ideas are very much in the ether stage at the moment but I thought I might start collecting some relevant bits as they come available.

Re: Jag Splined Hubs

That sounds like challenging fun!

It is worth joining the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club and Jaguar Drivers Club, and going to one of the twice-yearly Jag spares days at Stoneleigh.

Stoneleigh sounds great but with each trip costing NZ$2000 just for the flights the parts would certainly have to be at bargain prices! That said, with a bit of organisation and a detailed shopping list it might not be such a bad idea...

Re: Jag Splined Hubs

Next Jag Spares day is 23rd October, so you had better start planning quick!

After that, I think it will be March/April time next year.

You can be an overseas member of the JEC - and can buy it online at www.jec.org.uk.

Probably worth it for the monthly mag, advertisers, classifieds etc.

Can't recall if JDC does overseas memberships - very probable.
