It passed!

Hello all,
My GD passed its SVA yesterday at the first attempt. What a relief! Instead of the four hour marathon I was expecting it was all over in less than an hour and a half. The tester (at Gillingham) was very friendly and helpful to the point of helping to reduce the co2 emissions by adjusting the mixture screws. On reading through the SVA manual again afterwards I realised there were a number of things he didn't even check. I guess I was just born lucky.
Had a visit from DVLA vehicle inspector today (also surprisingly brief) and so I should be able to pick up my reg. no. and tax disc tomorrow. I may even get to drive it soon if this rain ever stops.
Many thanks to all of you guys who have helped with advice. I'm very grateful.

Regards,

Congratulations Vernon - it is a great achievement to get
a car through SVA, especially first time.

I remember back from my SVA that the tester certainly
knew his kitcars very well and what to look for in
a particular manufacturers model - seems like us amateurs
typically make very similar mistakes on similar cars.
That may explain why he never even looked at certain bits.

Enjoy your new toy, but be careful with the loud pedal in
wet corners }> }> }>

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.

RE: It passed!

Well done Vernon.
Passing the SVA at the first attempt is no mean feat............There are so many little bits and pieces to think about, many of them you only think about when you are unloading the car at the testing station..

RE: It passed!

Vernon - many, many congrats. And first time too! Not many of us have done that.

Now enjoy the damm thing, but do please be careful as you get used to it. We want you to still be enjoying it many years from now.
