Marham track day, great for most

Marham was great, dry, fast and a huge variety of cars, good local East Anglian Cobra support, shame you could not make it Phil, hope the hassle was worth while and big sympathy to Wilby Meadows(see the pic and you will all understand), hope you got home OK and the AA or RAC realised that you were only out for a gentle afternoon run round the lanes near Marham!!! So to Mark, Steve, Andy, Ron, Wilby and the rest of the Cobra guys and the many other new friends thanks for the great company and especially to Mark at Marham for organising it all, he hopes to do TWO next year and at only £60 for the day he hopes to have raised £6000 for charity from the event. I will post a load more pics later but until then, feel for Wilby and his slightly smokey DAX, shame!

Re: Marham track day, great for most

The track day was a cracking day. Eileen managed to spin the Trans Am and I used a whole oil well of fuel in the Dax.

There were no major engine traumas from our point of view, but Wilby pumped out probably 2 pints of oil from a blown out valve cover breather cap caused by a sudden increase in crankcase pressure (holed piston?) - as shown in Simon's photo - probably, judging from my speeds over the same part of the track, at over 100 mph.
Also, Mark Bright managed to kill his alternator and a turbocharged Nissan 200SX blew a large hole in the side of the engine block due to the contained parts wishing for some fresh air.

Although Simon hasn't mentioned it, his under floor exhausts set fire to the passenger footwell and we have some good video footage of him spinning and fishtailing rather dramatically out of a bend.

Many thanks to Wing Commander Mark Williams of RAF Marham for organising a very successful weekend, raising in excess of £6000 for RAF and East Anglian charities.

Re: Marham track day, great for most

Great photos Eileen and Steve, looks like you all had a great day - at least it stayed dry and pretty sunny. I'm jealous as my dizzy has been playing up and the car misfiring so I thought it better not to risk going. Will definately be on for the next one should Mark decide to go ahead. Any chance of uploading some of the the video? Where are all the Ferraris? Thought the owners club was invited to Sundays session.
