Which bits would you referb/replace on Jag donor parts

I'm about to start doing my XJ6 bits for my AK and could do with a bit of advice on what's best to replace or refurb. I've done a few searches on here but can't find much on what exactly I need to get from John Gordon's. I'm going over there on Monday so any pointers you fella's can give me would be appreciated.

Kevin.

Quite a bit to get your teeth into.

Front end:-
Brake disks, top and bottom ball joints, wheel bearings (not too dear and best done now).Wishbone bushes top and bottom, bottom wishbone pivot shaft (they`re usually knackered by time you get them out).Any nuts and bolts that look any way suspect bin them and replace.Calipers exchange from Wards (best price but sometimes takes a while).

Rear end:-
Bake disks again and calipers from Wards.Wheel hubs can be a fiddle in the end I got 2 exchange ones all shimmed up and new bearings etc. Not bad at £79 each and saves a lot of trouble setting pre-loads etc.Drive shaft universal joint x 4. Inner wishbone needle roller bearings.Diffs are usually pretty solid but have a look at the internals and check for play on the input and output shafts.Camber shims and you`ll need two imperial track rod ends for the radius arms.

I`m sure to have missed some bits but that lot should get you started, unfortunately it adds up to a few quid but it`s worth it in the end:thumb: .

Do you have parts catalogue if not go to http://www.ward-engineering.co.uk/ and you can get one sent out in e-mail.John Gordons do very fast delivery and good service however I found by using them and Wards you could get best prices.

Tony.

Re: Which bits would you referb/replace on Jag donor parts

Kevin,

If it would help I can e-mail you a complete list of parts that I ordered from Wards, complete with jaguar part No. s

I sent off the rear hub carriers to be refurbed because it's just not worth the hassle to do them yourself.
However did I recon' the brake callipers so if your exchanging yours just take off the relevant parts.

Re: Which bits would you referb/replace on Jag donor parts

Kevin in addition to teh parts mentioned above you may also need to change the front spindles which can also wear on Jags, depending on how the car was previously maintained. It is best to do now.
