DAX V12, beware

I'm posting here as a caution to potential purchasers.
There is a DAX V12 for sale by a company in the midlands called Simon Yates. This car is advertised on Autotrader (amongst others) as a two year old, 700 mile Dax Cobra. IT'S NOT!!!

I have been in touch with the company to explain that its actually a 1988 that has been re-registered, and that the car had at least 15,000 miles on it, but they refuse to amend their adverts or even admit they are wrong.

I know they are wrong because it used to be my car! I sold it to Sovereign cars about three years ago. It IS a very nice car, well built and nicely finished but it is NOT as they describe it.

If anyone reading this site is thinking of buying this car, I don't want to put them off, as I said, it's a nice car, I just want them to be aware that it is NOT as advertised

I have given the company every opportunity to come clean, but as they won't, I feel it is my duty to warn potential purchasers.

Simon

Re: DAX V12, beware

If they wont play ball try telling Birmingham trading standards, I know its not nice, but its even worse for an innocent buyer to get stitched!
Heres a couple off google

[b]"tradingstandards@birmingham.gov.uk"

Trading Standards - 12 miles NW - Civic Centre St. Peters Square, Wolverhampton, WV1 1RG - 0845 3303313
Dudley Trading Standards - 8.3 miles W - 3 St. James's Rd, Dudley, DY1 1HZ - 0845 3303313

Re: DAX V12, beware

I emailed Simon yates this morning, pointing out this thread, and asked them if they would like to respond.

As yet there has been no reply, but as Ramsc427 says, the advert has been altered.
Perhaps Dingocooke suggestion has made them think a bit.
The advert know says phone for details....
.....I wonder what they will tell you in private?

Still the same price for a 15,000 mile car as it was for a 700 mile car

Rich

Re: DAX V12, beware

I phoned that and asked them about the car, they said that it was built about 8 yrs ago but took about 8 hrs to build and was only registered 2 yrs ago.

I asked them about the milage and they said that it only has 700 miles on it......!!!!

Re: DAX V12, beware

Why do people lie when they're trying to sell something?
It does wind me up, and I cant see what they can gain. If they had any brains at all, they would have spoken to Simon about the build and its history when he phoned them originally, and that information would have added to the cars provenance and value.
Its probably only showing 700 miles; perhaps its recently had a haircut?
I bet its got one of those little stickers on the speedo saying mileage not warranted!!
At least we all know its a 17 year old car with at least 15,000 miles on it!!
Buyer beware.

Re: DAX V12, beware

As a 1988 the car will be a MK3 and the MK4 came out in 1994 so there is something to shoot him down on if he does try to take the pi55.
Always a good idea to to call Dax and ask them to varify a chassis no. and tell you when
it was made.:thumb:

Re: DAX V12, beware

Ok you can all stop as this is Simon Yeates who is selling the car. I have sent an email to Simon Winter who has alerted me of this mileage descrepency. I am currently looking into this and i have asked him any documentation he has. I can only go off what has come with the car. I.E Date registered, and mileage. Now this car came from soveregin cars with a low mileage and i know the last customer has not used this car. But if it has done more that is fine, but i would really like to know how many as i have been told 10000 miles by Mr winter then on a post here 15000 miles. As i say i am finding out. In answer to some of your comments yes you can tell the age by the fact DAX's kit's have changed. Yes it is an earlier DAX. Re mileage all these cars are built out of donars and you do tend to buy them on condtion and build etc. Like Mr Winter has said this is a nice car, and i have spent alot of money on it as well improving it. Some one said it may of had a hair cut, i take offense to this comment as i have been in the motor trade for over 11 years and have an impeccable record. I also hate the scumbags in the trade who do things like this and cut corners they spoil it for everyone who does the job properly and honest people like your selfs who want to enjoy nice cars and not be caught out with some of the horrible stories you here.

If any one has any questions about my car or my integrity call me direct on my mobile 07790 901 977.

I would like to find out the true history of this car so i can rectify my advertising. In comment to the fact i have took a while to change my advert from Mr winters email to me. This is becasue i have been out of the country, it has been changed.

Best wishes

Simon Yeates

Re: DAX V12, beware

So I guess from this, that anyone phoning up about the car now will be told that there is mileage discrepancy and the car potentially has 15,000 miles on it, as per the original owner

Andy.
