Top Dog!

Had a little browse, Lovely shades of pastel, very easy to read. Even the thread treeview is easier to read with those root lines. Although the post number isn't being displayed against the items (Which is sometimes kinda handy to locate the latest post in a busy subject - reading the date / time is slower than a post number) - Although I can see that the new forum has a new way of indexing the posts so those post numbers are in the 0000's.

The search screen is supper fast! What an improvement

The only section that doesn't appear to function are the polls, No graphical repesentation or votes are being displayed.

Are the Avatars history in the latest edition? I suppose it cuts download time - Oh - I've found an AK logo in a post - seems to be smaller - What size avatars does the new forum support.

All in, a sleaker version of what we are all used to - Great job...

RE: Forum Upgrade

I have a bit of work to do on the polls and the avatars need to be re-uploaded to the correct folder.

Bump, Bumpety Bump

Right, we have already had some great positive feedback, but I though I would let you know some of the other enhancements.

The forum supports dynamic linear or threaded mode, I will leave you lot to browse the new forums and work out what it means for yourselves and which method you like the best.

Log into the new forum and select user menu to have a look at your preferences, but also look at the top menu when in a specific forum and click on Show all folders View messages in linear mode and see what difference it makes when viewing a post.

Have fun, but please let me know what you think.

Dynamic linear or threaded mode, I'm so confused, but whatever you decide will do for me. It all works well and is considerably faster.

Keep up the good work.

Have you decided if you are going to the Exeter Show?

Cheers

RE: Forum Upgrade

Personal preference is Threaded as it is easier to locate posts.

Linear forums are only any good if every one posting can only add to the last post - But that's just frustrating when you wish to reply to a post half way through the thread. I notice that even when in a Linear mode on the new forum, it is still possible to add posts half way through a thread. So, the linear mode is really threaded mode with out the very helpful treeview.

I've just noticed the drop down tree view when viewing posts in a folder (Little plus - minus next to post subject which toggle it's presence). Which is only available in threaded modes.

Look forward to using the new forum.

RE: Forum Upgrade

Dan

I know some people like linear, others like threaded, the beauty of the new forum is we can please everyone!!!!

In any linear forum, you can respond to a post at the top, but the actual response will be at the bottom. Sometimes makes for a rather distracted read.

Forum will be migrated on Thursday night, the only downside is I haven't yet worked out how to get the latest post includes into the homepage of the site, but will be working on that soon.
