speed camera warning

I have just travelled down from Derby on the M42 and noticed that the gantrys on the remodled section between the M40 and M6 now have cameras on them.  :whatever:

I don't know if the are only active when the matrix speed restrictions are? so be careful.

Re: speed camera warning

Sadly, I travel the M42 a lot (do-h!)
Some of the gantries have cameras fitted but not commissioned yet, some have yet to be fitted, and it looks like some are now working; although the useless b*ggers have been doing it for over 2 years so who knows?
Eventually, they will work same as those on the M25..
Speed cameras, sattelite monitored insurance premiums, etc, best enjoy driving performance cars and bikes while you can, these things can only spread.

Re: speed camera warning

I think this gives us a clue.... "In order to achieve compliance with the Operational Regimes, it will be necessary to enforce them. Digital speed enforcement equipment will be used to automatically enforce variable speed limits (including national speed limit)."
I guess this means enforcing the 70 mph limit!

Hi Simon,

that is how I read it also, it does seem to be pretty clear doesn't it:angry:  :whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

30 - 50 limits in built up areas I am in full support of, altho some 50's are beyond belief (dual carrige way straight for miles and no junctions??? justify that one).

but motorways? get them up to 80 - 85 and get real police back on them, if someone is driving like a TWo hAT or the car does not look up to it they are stopped.

OOOPs went off on one there......just my opinion of corse..no offence.

Re: speed camera warning

HI Guys

I am also one of the many users of this section of the M42 on a daily basis and have noticed that there are signs stating that from the 28 NOVEMBER the speed limits will be mandatery as shown on the overhead gantry (police christmas box must be short) so please watch your speed or become a pedestrian.
