Xmas come early

Had a great start to the week picked up my de-rated diff yesterday from Russ Ram - what a great genuine guy really would recommend him to anyone - he sorted out a bad experience for me, the diff I originally bought had a problem so with some great advice and Russell's skill I sourced a second diff and made a good one out of two giving me exactly what I wanted (problem with the first was one of the outer bearing race's was spinning instead of the bearing it's self) but the diff had the Ratio I wanted 3.31 - the second diff 3.54 had a tag on saying reconditioned by Jaguar so was in good condition - coupled with Russell's expertise I've ended up with a really good diff.

Russ also supplied me with an excellent deal on EBC drilled and grooved disc's and green pads - JUST A FIRST CLASS SERVICE thanks again Russell

Then today picked up my LS6 engine and T56 gearbox imported from the States - another great experience no problems just like clockwork and saved a chunk of money too:thumb:

I've just got my engine wiring harness and re-programmed PCM (ECU) to follow - the guy who supplied the package from Regal Performance emailed me tonight asking is their anything else I want him to send over at the same time

So my question to anyone who's had experience of fitting this setup to a GD - can you think of anything else I should include? I've got a straight necked thermostat housing so far on my list.

Hopefully some pictures attached

Thanks Dave.

Looks Good Dave.
Can't see one in your pictures. Propshaft slipyolk/front end of prop would be good addition :thumb:

Re: Xmas come early

My website has some info about the electrics. The thermostat housing I had cut and welded by GD to fit it - might be cheaper than buying a straight one.

I didn't find the electrics too bad - there are a lot of wires but you can trace most of them and remove quite a few. I've driven about 200 miles in my car so far and had no problems with the engine (apart from the HT lead that keeps coming loose!!). I know some others have had a problem.

If you haven't had VATS programmed out of the PCM, I would recommend buying a VATS/O2 module from Baker Electronics. This costs about £20 and will not only fool the car into thinking that you have VATS but also give a rear O2 simulated signal to the PCM that fools it that the Cats are doing something

Re: Xmas come early

Ooh, just thought. Make sure you have the clutch hose fitting as it is a bespoke part and difficult to source. Get as much of the wiring as you possibly can

Re: Xmas come early

Dave
Spare set of plugs , oil filters, O2 sensors all cheaper over there.
I converted to an electronic oil pressure sender and made up my own manifold block for oil pressure & temperature. S & P do a `tree` to do the same thing, just a thought at this stage.
Water header tank cap - again S & P do some nice ones with polished tops.
Mine came without the plug connector for reverse and took ages to track down.
Try JP exhaust for your cats , they can flange them to suit and did a great job.
Is your harness being modified for `stand alone` ?

Re: Xmas come early

Look forward to hearing about you experiences with the de-rated diff. Mine was not de-rated and it is certainly very noticeable at low speeds.

May possibly be in touch when I get to the wiring stage, I've seen the info on you web site this will certainly help Thanks.

I'm sure the VATS will be programmed out of my PCM but thanks for the advise on this - I'm not sure at the moment what I'm going to do regarding Cats - I'm quite set on side pipes with the 4 into 1 arrangement but not sure how this will work - Any body got any idea's or advise? may just have to settle for under-slug to get through SVA and may be change at a later stage.

On the clutch hose thanks for pointing this out I haven't seen that type of fitting before - I sent a email to the guy who supplied the package, he's replied asking me if I also need the Master cylinder - will the one GD supply be OK or should I have him send the hose and cylinder over?

Thanks for your help Dave.
