Goodwood Track Days

For those interested:-

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am running two fund-raising track days at Goodwood. The format of the days will be the same as my recent events – 25 cars in the morning and 25 in the afternoon; a busy half day, 10 cars on track at a time for 10 minutes, about 15 minutes in the pitlane, then out again.
Drivers can expect an hour of track time in the half day.
The noise limit will be 98dBs static, 96dBs driveby.

Wednesday 29th March.
15 places remain available. Cars currently listed range from a new Ford GT to Peugeot 306, with Ferrari, MG, Jaguar, Morgan and Aston Martin all featuring.
Tuesday 18th April.
25 places remain available. A similar range of cars already.

Several drivers have taken both morning and afternoon slots.

If these events are of interest to you please contact me soon. I look forward to seeing more familiar faces.
Please tell any friends with suitable cars.

DRIVE GOODWOOD MOTOR CIRCUIT
More ‘Fun with a Purpose’
Two fund-raising track days at Goodwood Motor Circuit, Sussex
- older cars preferred.
Wednesday 29th March 2006, for Combat Stress, the Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society;
Tuesday 18th April 2006, just after Easter, for the Erasmus Darwin Foundation.

There will be a choice of activities to suit everybody.

1. Track day. There will be 25 cars in the morning (0900-1230) - and 25 in the afternoon (1330-1700) - with. ten cars on track at a time for 10-minute sessions. Drivers can expect about one hour of track time in a busy half day, or two hours all day. The noise limits will be 98dBs static, 96dBs drive-by. Entry will remain at my 2004 rates: £160 for a half day, £320 for a full day.
Usual car preferences - your older British car will be most welcome, whereas Caterhams, recycled kamikazes and shiny new Porsches will not be encouraged.
2.Parade laps – two laps at moderate speed with no overtaking and the option to buy a quality digital print to hang in the downstairs loo – will be available at 0900 and again at 1330.
Any four-wheeled vehicle, ancient or modern, will cost £20 (payable on the day).
See www.edpphoto.com for photographs from previous days (eg. Goodwood 9 December ’05)
3.Passenger rides will be available in return for a paper money donation.
4. Spectators will be free. Bring your older car to the paddock.

We have organised previous track days for both Combat Stress and Erasmus Darwin Foundation.
Combat Stress provides psychiatric help to ex-servicemen and women of all ages. Their traumas are the results of conflicts ranging from Northern Ireland and the Falklands and many others up to the present Iraq. The society has looked after over 75,000 clients in its 80 years, and takes on about 600 veterans each year. Clients are visited in their own homes and are able to have short stays in a Combat Stress residential home. The cost is about £5m per year, of which less than half comes from central and local government.
Erasmus Darwin (1731-1802) was the grandfather of the better-known Charles Darwin. He was a far-sighted genius, one of the foremost physicians of his time, and expounded evolution before his grandson. His inventions include what is now called Ackermann steering, which is fitted to your car. He lived at Lichfield in Staffordshire and was a major force in the Lunar Society, the intellectual powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution. His house has been opened as a museum and needs about £100,000 per year, some of which comes from local government. My wife Heather supports the museum through her business, Line Up Aviation Personnel.
For more information see www.combatstress.org.uk and www.erasmusdarwin.org.
Hire of the circuit will cost about £6,000 per day; it is hoped to raise £3000 for each charity. Gift Aid will be used when possible to maximise the results and the accounts will be sent to all drivers.

For track day places please send cheques now dated 1st March 2006 payable to ‘C.Darwin Charity Account’ to the address below, stating which day and whether morning or afternoon (or both).
A receipt will be sent, and the cheques will be banked in March; two drivers can share an entry.
Please tell friends about these days.

If you have any queries please call me on 01403 783458 or email "c.darwin@virgin.net".
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at Goodwood.
