age-related plates

Hi all, just pondering the subject of registration plates, are numbers with' COB' OR '427'etc. and ending with a C,D,E,F awkward and costly to source ?
Thanks, Paul.

Re: age-related plates

Paul I purchased PYV 427 F back in 1998 (or so) for about GBP350. I scanned the ads from the big companies for a while, didn't see anything and then one day phoned them up and they gave me a short list to chose from.

Transfer to my car was very easy.

Re: age-related plates

427 DCV is for sale in the classifieds on here, Im pretty sure its been on ebay a couple of times too, so maybe you could do a deal with the seller?
Worth checking ebay out, BIG 2894 is currently at £31 (ok for a 289) and there are always loads going on there.
You could check the palte dealers too as nbracken suggested, surprising what you could turn up.
Worth putting a saved search in favourites and then ebay will email you when one comes on the site?
Steve

Thanks Nigel, that sounds fair enough- I'll go down that route, a plate similar to yours would be ideal.
Next question .. are those nice black plates now illegal in the UK ( why I'm asking you and your in Japan I can't explain)
Paul.

Theyre only illegal on a car first registered from 1973 on, but in reality you would be unlucky to get a pull as long as you werent displaying an obviously post 1972 suffix.

Check the DVLA website or any personal plate site (search google theres loads of em!)

Re: age-related plates

Your best bet is to go onto the DVLA website - (search Via Google etc)

There you can play for hours punching in various combinations and seeing what is available and the price !

I got C13 DAX for £150 plus transfer fee

Very professional and easy to do.

its quicker and easier than searching the Ads

I'm just changing cars and will be playing on the site over he weekend

Regards

That looks very correct Mike, just what these cars deserve.
