Spitfire Wipers

The Ram build manual recommends that I use the spitfire windscreen wiper set. Thing is the manual is pre SVA so I was wondering if anyone is using it and if so is it twin speed and does it park properly ie will it pass SVA?

If I just got an old MG or mini (lucas) type, does anyone supply the modification wheel best suited to Cobras? (or does any scrap type car have the correct one).

You may be interested to know that the MG owners club sales sells a retro mod which wires into existing wiring and uses existing stalk to allow an adjustable intermittant wipe! Should be simple to fit most systems.

Re: Spitfire Wipers

I'm sure mini or metro wiper systems can be modified to fit a Cobra, changing the wheel box ratios is not mandatory but it is a good idea.

Re: Spitfire Wipers

Sorry Ed.
I should have been more specific Yes the mini system is an option, and the 130 degree wheel adapts it to the correct sweep. You will need to renew/remake the bundy tubing to the correct lengths, And you might find that the drive cable is not long enough. The wheel boxes also don't have the chrome bezels. All this is do-able, But it might be a lot less hassle, and not a lot more money to buy a new kit. HTH

Re: Spitfire Wipers

Ed dont forget you dont actually need a screen or wipers or washers to pass the SVA.......... might save you a lot of grief, because if they are fitted they have to comply.

Re: Spitfire Wipers

Thanks all,
I had forgotten about leaving the screen off. I'll just keep an eye on the scrappy (sorry "Car end of life centre") and see if anything comes up.
