Checking my maths...

I'm plotting an engine upgrade and will most likely go down the route of buying a cutout from the US. So...

If I bought an LS1 engine/gearbox for say $5500 which is about £3,160.35 and assuming the door to door shipping quote of £400 I got from cargobookers (based on the crate being about 130kg) is about right. I make the import duty @ 4% to be £142.40, the VAT the be £647.92 which makes a total of around £4350. So about £4500 with the inevitable "unexpected admin costs".

Does this sound about right?

Re: Checking my maths...

Hi Richard

I don't think you'll be far out at that.
I've got a good contact in the State's who just supplied me with a new LS6 + T56, harness, reprogrammed PCM and everything else required (even spare plugs and filters)
Also halved the cost on the paperwork which saved quite bit on import duty.

Great guy and excellent service PM me if you would like his details

Dave
