Re: Dax De Dion Handling

Well, the Elise / Exige is supposed to be (one of) the best handling cars in the world, so my money would be on one of them.

The (well, my) Esprit had the steering and brakes only equalled by the Dodge Charger, so in that case my money would be on anyone in a pedal car.

The sevens? Well the only time i've been near anything like one was a friends Dutton, which was so narrow we couldn't both get in it at once.

Re: Dax De Dion Handling

If that’s the type of handling your looking for I think you may have ordered the wrong car, perhaps the rush sat next to the cob should have got more of your attention.

If however, and as you have voted with your wallet, I assume it does, the whole cobra kudos appeals, then you won’t go far wrong with your choice.

Have a read through the threads regarding the various annual meets the club engages in and see what is the most popular. A couple of days on the finest, fastest airfield venue in the country, with the space to utilise the acceleration and straight line speed of an assortment of mighty V8’s, coupled with the rough and ready evenings entertainment of undercooked burgers, dirty portaloos, good music and much bullshit as to HP. Climbing from your cold tent the following morning to do repeated ¼ mile timed runs and see just how well the car handles on a twisty, demanding sprint slalom course, neither of which has a queue Or sitting at a some weekend car event, polishing the shell repeatedly, with the odd parade lap thrown in for good measure.

It doesn’t matter how the Dax handles compared to the similarly affordably modern sports car, people buy these machines to look good, to look different, for the challenge of the build, for the roar of the induction and exhaust.

Get yourself a huge pack of lint free wipes, a good chamois leather, a well rehearsed patter regarding HP and torque and join in.

Re: Dax De Dion Handling

Me and my lad visited DB last year just after after getting my AK on the road. DB's mechanic had a drive and reconned it handled better than the De-Dion - but don't tell Dave I told you as I wouldn't want him to get fired!!

Re: Dax De Dion Handling

Hi,

I have definately ordered the right car, as Caterham 7 or Elise isnt for me. A Elise is the dream car of a mate of mine and he was wondering how my Cobra would compare on handling. I guessed the Elise would win on the twisty stuff but I'd get to deafen the Elise driver on the straight as I fly past with side pipes roaring!

Cheers

Re: Dax De Dion Handling

You have deffo picked the right motor, ok lotus 7s handle like they are on rails i know i owned one for a short while, but if your dax handles half as good as the green monster at elvington you will be a happy bunny. After all it made the so called super GDs look like they were in reverse and it out handled them. OOOOeerrrrr i think that will upset a few. DAX RULES DAX RULES DAX RULES, today england tomorrow the verld
