Engine Start

BIG Day for me tomorrow. Strating the engine for the first time. I've got fire extinguisher at the ready and mobile just in case. Chris Salmon is coming round to prime the engine with oil and help me set the timing up.

So it will be tears of joy
or tears of sorrow .
I'll let you know which .

I've never been so nervous since kissing kerry behind the sportshall at school aged 13.

Re: Engine Start

All the best Lee, hope it goes well. I'm not far off from starting mine, a month or so - not really looking forward to it though

Re: Engine Start

Good luck Lee, I remember it well. Check and re-check all your hoses, that's usually the only problem, also don't start it inside the garage, some people do.

Fire extinguisher and a hose pipe at the ready is also a good idea.

with regard to the starting of it outside of your garage: push the car out, check to make sure the time is around 1am and give it a whirl! thats the plan for me (without sidepipes) - can't stand my neighbours and they can't stand me

Re: Engine Start

If it's a new engine with a new cam, make sure you run it in for 25mins and don't let it idle!

Re: Engine Start

Best of luck to you and Chris.
Could you ask Chris to contact me or e-mail when you see him please, and don't worry about the PM I sent you asking how I could buy a starter button set up from you.
I have to go through the same thing myself soon so I know how you must feel!
Good luck!

Re: Engine Start

Engine didn't start

We are getting sparks at plugs. But we don't seem to be getting any fuel at spark plugs. Time for some head scratching.

Bitsilly, did I not reply to you, I thought I did. If you still want some help, let me know. The engine didn't fire but the starter button worked a treat.

Re: Engine Start

There isfuel getting through the carb into the manifold, but there doesn't seem to be any fuel getting to the spartk plugs. See the thread that I've started in Chevy engines
