Rear lights

Having just insatlled my rear lights I am now toatally confused.

Is it purely personal or is there a reason, SVA?, why some cars have the indicators above the stop lights and vice versa?

Russ

Re: Rear lights

Indicators need to be a certain height above the ground... think brake lights do too... you will probably find that the indicators are high enough in the lower position - I think it is safer having brake lights higher...

Re: Rear lights

Hi Russ the regs for the rear lights are as follows.
Rear position lights. Within 400mm of edge of vehicle. Min seperation 500mm. Max height 1500mm. Min height 350mm. Visibility 80 degrees outward, 45 degrees inward. 15 degrees above & below the horizontal or 15 degrees above & 5 degrees below if less than 750mm above ground level.
Stop Lamps Minimum seperation 400mm. Max/min heights as rear position lights. Visibility 45 degrees inward & outward. 15 degrees above & below horizontal or 15 above & 5 below if less than 750mm above ground.
Rear Indicators Height & position as rear position lights. Visability as rear position lights with 50% of illuminated area to be visible throughout tis arc. Fashing rate of 60 to 100 per minute.

Re: Rear lights

The AC 289 (post 427 model developed for the European market) and late 427 with separate rear/stop lights and idicators had their indicators above the rear/stop lights.

Re: Rear lights

Clive,

Thanks,

They are wired now and not moving, stop/tail at the top.

Nice to hear that there is somebody else up here.

What car do you have?

I am just oustside Balerno on the hill , 100yds of the B7030 that runs between the A70 and A71.

If you know where the gliding place is, Kirknewton air strip, I am next to that.

Where in Perth are you?

Russ
