Wrong clutch parts help!!!!!

Hi All,
Clutching(excuse the pun) at straws here but any help would be great
I was hoping to get my engine/box in the car this weekend Went to assemble my SD1 box onto the RV8 turns out I have an early type clutch kit but later(self-centering?) box life is so simple.I didn"t realise there was a difference
Seems I have two options
1.buy a complete new clutch kit to suit
2.get hold of a early release bearing fork
Helpful chap at rimmers says the fork is compatible with the newer box.I could then stick with my original kit

Does this sound feasible and does anyone out there have one sitting in their garage
they would like to sell
Or where else can I try
Cheers
Steve

Re: Wrong clutch parts help!!!!!

Steve

As I understand it, the later self centring kit can be fitted to either box but only as a set comprising clutch plate, clutch cover and release bearing.

If you only had the newer release bearing, then this could be exchanged or replaced with an earlier version. If you have a newer clutch cover, then you simply need the newer release bearing. As the guy from Rimmer says, the fork is interchangable between both two versions.

It shouldn't be too much of an issue once you sort out what you have and what you want.

Paul

Re: Wrong clutch parts help!!!!!

Hi,
Thanks for the reply Paul, problem sorted.
I now understand the problem better. As you say the fork is the same,it was the carrier I should of been refering to.
I have now got a carrier to suit my early clutch kit
Everythings all bolted together and in the car(see my post "got it in!!")
thanks again
Steve
