| RE: gel coat Hi Paul, In all honesty I wasn't too impressed with my Dax Gelcoat as there were a number of colourless patches in it, it should have been black all over. I felt it was was bad enough to go down the road of painting straight away at the end of the build. Although I've seen many a Dax that's been very good when polished up in gelcoat only, I probably got the short straw. JMHO Kev Davies Dax, 383ci Chevy Stroker, Tremec TKO South Wales

| RE: gel coat I must say that the quality of the gel coat on my Sumo is excellent. There's a nice even colour all round, and the gel is impregnated into the fibreglass some distance meaning that once it has been rubbed down and polished, it hasn't worn through and shown any white spots. | RE: gel coat Kev and Tony Thanks for your replies though I am quite surprised. I would have thought Dax would have been better quality. Anyone got any other views? Anyone with a GD in gelcoat? Just a thought Paul

| RE: gel coat >Anyone with a GD in gelcoat? I ran mine for 18 months in Gel Coat, with no prblems, looked really nice. Charlie has been running his GD in Gell for about 3 years now, and probably won't paint it. Robert UK CRC Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

| RE: gel coat We have just picked up our body from GD and I have to say it was excellant the flash lines just need a little wet & dry See attachment the body has not been touched yet except the offside wing to see how easy it is. If you look on the members website under PAULGD you will see photos of the shell as it arrived from GD. Paulgd |

| RE: gel coat How's this for an unbiased view. My AK is OK but I made a mess of the flash lines. I decided to rub them out with a sander.... big mistake. I ended up putting flat spots straight down the top of the wings. Therefore the car is in the painters as we speak. I must say that I did like the body of the GD when I saw it. Flash lines are not down the centre of the wings like on the AK, Dax, Pilgrim. They are down the sides of the wings which look much easier to remove. I.E. with a sander. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. Paul, you've not attached the "see attached" you mentioned. |
