Easyweld?

Any experience of this product? I am awaiting some in the post. Hopefully to repair a pinhole sized hole in my alloy header tank.

Re: Easyweld?

I have used it once (not on my kit I hasten to add) and the trick is very thorough preparation as per the instructions.
I asked well known ally welding guru Ray Petit about it a couple of years ago (he can weld just about anything), and he rolled up his nose and said it was probably better than Araldite.
He added that you could not do a proper welding repair job after using it, unless every vestige of the stuff was ground out; not usually very easy.
Its only intended for non stress related stuff, probably fine for cosmetic bodging or very low pressure leak stopping.

Re: Easyweld?

I swear by this stuff, Loctite Super Steel Epoxy Resin, you can buy it from Halfrauds or any motorist shop, brilliant stuff, I stuck my AC pedals on with it 4 yrs ago and they are still there, it fixes anything metal.

Re: Easyweld?

I have heard the same as Steve - it will almost ruin the item for the purposes of a proper repair if it doesn't work which can be very expensive.

Re: Easyweld?

Just had a fast reply from Easyweld after asking them would it do the job. Was going to cut'n'paste his reply but it wouldv'e looked like an advert.
He seemed very confident that it was up to the job so Im gonna give it a try and let you know how i get on.
