I have a hood . Just in case it rains. And if my wife comes out with me to stop her hair blowing out of place.

Re: POLL: Weather protection

I ask because I'm going to buy a tonneau next month and was wondering whether to buy a hood or not - from some of the comments I've read in other threads, it doesn't look like I'll be getting a hood, but curious to see how many people have them

Re: POLL: Weather protection

Robin.
I've got away with a Tonneau for 18 months of year round use, and only got wet twice. However I am considering getting a hood before Le Mans.

Re: POLL: Weather protection

I have a hood and a tonneau.
Tonneau is used regularly when out and leave the car parked.
Hood is used regularly when out and it's raining or is snowing.
Side windows are used on long runs and when the wife is in the car.
If you do at least 5,000 miles a year you will use them. If you plan to be a fairweather driver, you know the sort that say's "dry miles only" then don't bother as you won't be out that much in the car.
Must admit I don't use them that much but they are really handy when needed.

Re: POLL: Weather protection

Hood, tonneau and side screens.
Hate using hood and sidescreens but essential if you do any long distance stuff where you are away from home for a few days and have to travel (e'g. visiting Le Mans, touring UK, Europe etc)
Tonneau is great for when you park up overnight or at shows and things. Keeps interior dry and out of sight.

Re: POLL: Weather protection

Robin,

I've got both. Bought the hood first, then Tonneau about 18 months later. The hood is great and means I don't mind being a couple of hundred miles away and it rains, the tonneau is used all the time though, if it's a choice between the 2 I'd say Tonneau every time.

Cheers

Jim

Re: POLL: Weather protection

If you can't afford both, a tonneau is a must, even in Le-Mans when its in the 30's you can get downpours in the evening.

I've had a hood for the AK for 4 years and it's been up 5 times, on all those occassions I couldn't have managed without it.
