| Re: Who said ...? The answer is... Alan Mann, manager of the 1965 'all conquering' European race team. They campaigned a mixture of Cobras, Daytona Coupes and GT40s sent to them by Shelby/Ford. Although Ford claimed a 'World Championship Win' it was actually a rather minor class where the only competition were a few privately entered Ferraris. He went on to say (of the 289): "Badly built; we used to strip out the bottom end when they arrived from Shelby and have them rebuilt by Stuart Mathieson, but we still had to keep them down to 6500 rpm at the most"

| Re: Who said ...? ive built a couple of 289s for alan to go in his mustangs that made 390 on cast iron hedders he revs them to 7000 and we dont have to strip them and throw the bits away after every race they usually do the season between rebuilds Tim adams |
