Road tax

Just been looking at what the govenments current situation is with charging road tax - as I have never really paid attention to their 'schemes'

I assume my Cobra's CO2 emmissions will be well over the 185. So I will pay £170 in road tax (sorry 'fund') compared to £75 if I had a 20cc engine!

What on earth is the government thinking of? A typical person looking to buy a normal car would save hundreds or thousands of pounds per yer on fuel costs and insurance costs by buying a car with a puny gutless engine - as if they are going to be swayed to buy a gutless piece of 5hit to save a few quid on road tax.

Seems mad that someone with a normal road car, typical 35mpg jobbie would pay a maximum of £170 road tax, and us lot with our huge 5.7+ litre V8's ........ pay the same.

I aint complaining about the latter - just pointing out the Stu9idity

Re: Road tax

You'll pay £165 (unless your cobs running big doesel-lol)

We all know that the government is only playing at being green to pacify the environmentalists, hence the slightly higher road tax.
There is now way they can please the silent petrol burning majority who keep them in power, whilst silencing the vocal green minority without some deceit.

The Government dont really want us to stop burning petrol, it would destroy a large slice of their income; if I remember correctly, £44billion income from road fund and fuel tax, just over £4 billion spent on roads and infrastructure.
Wonder how the environmentalists (intriguing the word has mental in it) would meet the shortfall if they got their way; toss*rs

Err sorry bit of a saga rant...
