Re: sumo front suspension

after alot of head scratching, measuring, and kicking things around the garage i have decided to seek out an engineering firm to turn me two new mushrooms (30mm deeper) i can see this as the best solution to the problem. I received two more sierra uprights today from pilgrim off an earlier sierra and they are exactly the same as the ones i already have... The standard mushrooms as fitted, i have pulled them up 30mm and the suspension is sitting and looking spot on, ( no strain on top balljoint at all ) sits very neat...

Re: sumo front suspension

I just spoke to Pilgrim about this as I'm keen to get this sorted so I can fix the body down. They are now aware that a few of us have this problem and will investigate and let us know whats going on with it. I've refered them to this post to get the full story. (Hello Robin )

We'll wait and see.

Cheers

Graham

Re: sumo front suspension

Solution:

It seems that our manual may be slightly misleading everybody, (must be a first)

The latest version of our top wishbone for the Sierra Sumo has not got as much adjustment as the Granada, to the extent that it cannot achieve the statistics in our (very comprehensive and up to date) manual. The Granada upright is slightly taller which enables the adjustment.

Please note: This simply means that Sierra based kits (Sierra uprights only) cannot be adjusted to 0 degrees camber at droop, which in short means they run with more negative camber, this is not a safety issue.

However, to allow for further adjustment we will be upgrading the top wishbones on all future kits to enable our customers more adjustment to suit their driving style.

Many thanks to the customers that have brought this to our attention please contact us about upgrading your wishbones.

Re: sumo front suspension

It's fast responses like this by the manufacturer that that speaks volumes about them. I am one step nearer to ordering one

Robin,
Despite owning a Sumo I have been critical of Pilgrim in the past but on this ocassion I must say that it seems you have responded to customers problems quickly and found out what the problem is and a way to rectify it.

On this ocassion I must say well done

Re: sumo front suspension

I got mine in January 2000, I believe it was one of the original Sierra based MK 111's and it suffered badly from negative camber through lack of adjustment, why has it taken so long to get the problem sorted.

Anyway it's good to here that Pilgrim are now addressing the problem.

Well done.

Good point Mike,

Have to say that I didn't have this problem (2004 model) but I have changed just about everything on it anyway.
Has it really taken Pilgrim 6 years to address this problem. If it has then my first post maybe a bit premature.
