I don't know why people moan about freezing their nuts off in the garage, I work in my garage all year round and you don't hear me moaning about the weather :+

RE: Wimps

A very cheap and economical way of keeping warm

I am moving house in a few weeks and as it will be somwhere I own (gulp) I am planning major reworkings to the workshop - one of them being heating. I've mainly been looking at gas fires but coal/wood stoves is somthing I hadn't thought of...

If you don't mind I have a few questions, How long does it take to heat the room up from being lit? do you use it regularly or only when you know your going to spend more than a few hours in the workshop?

RE: Wimps

My garage is 33' x 10', the chill is off in 20 minutes and it's warm as toast in less than an hour. Talking of toast it's hot enough to cook toast and will heat water on the top plate :+ :+
It runs on smokeless or wood and will burn less than a bucket of smokeless in a full day, smokeless fuel costs me £9 for a 56kg bag. No question it's the best purchase I've made.

Dan,

The key is in the garage insulation, no so much the heating. You may want to consider insulated garage doors......all worth it in the long run.

Jim.

RE: Wimps

I was also thinking of insulating the garage with a couple of inches of insulation and running an extra radiator from the house central heating (when I find a new house with a garage that is)

Anybody done this?

Was it economical?

Just a thought

Paul

A garage, I wish. Mines full of Cobra and tools. New car being built on the drive! Try bending up an FIA spec roll cage in this weather - now where did I put the de-icer for my toes? x( x( x(

RE: Wimps

Simon,

It's a different variety of plastic pig to satisfy my need for ALOT more speed.

Full on, pro street spec Scimitar GTE. Stripped, fully caged, ally panelled interior. Narrowed, rose jointed four bar rear axle with 18inches of tyre each side. One piece flip front covering 5.2 ltr wildcat rover, quad dellorto downdrafts with port injected nitrous. 0-160mph in 9 secs.

Not likely to be ready for this season though coz it's too f***ing cold!!!!
