Cobra oval air cleaner

Been thinking about adding one of these to my list of bits to get for my motor.

One thing that strikes me when looking at them is they look a bit restrictive on air flow. Anyone got any views? It'll be going on a SBC stroker with airgap intake and 650cfm Edelbrock carb.

Re: Cobra oval air cleaner

408 cu in stroker Windsor seems very happy with an oval air cleaner, using a 13/4" tall K&N filter element.

About 1.5" wg manifold vacuum at WOT and max rpm - just right.

Tall filter, nice one. Where did you get the filter from Wilf?

Cheers

That is 1 and three-quarters of an inch tall - pretty much the same as the std paper filters that come with the oval air cleaners. K&N do a 3" tall filter as well if you have the headroom - I didn't.
I think I persuaded Demon Tweaks to special order it for me. If you need to know I have the K&N reference at home somewhere, or you can look it up on their site - there is a section with all the shapes and dimensions. E1960 or E1963 from memory. Or something like that.

Thanks Wilf - did a search on those product codes and they seem easy enough to get hold of.

Re: Cobra oval air cleaner

This is a K&N one that they made to measure. I had to raise the scoop slightly to clear it but it allowed the ram pipes to be fitted inside the filter. Not your set-up I realise but thought the pic might be useful anyway.
