Government officials have held a top-level meeting to receive updates on developments in the Fife bird flu situation.

The meeting of Cobra, the government's crisis management committee, took place in London and involved top officials from the Scottish Executive and various Whitehall departments, said the Cabinet Office.
These included the rural affairs department, the health department and the Cabinet Office.

Cobra, which stands for Cabinet Office Briefing Room A, meets to deal with civil contingencies, including foreign policy crises and terror incidents.
