Intercom systems

Does anyone know of a cheap intercom system so I don't have to shout on the motorway and ruin my pretty voice? Would prefer something that you can just plug a computer-type headset into - might be easier to make one... don't want a helmet mounted system...

Re: Intercom systems

Check on Ebay (or anywhere else) for Oxford systems designed for motorbikes

If you dont have a helmet on or somthing to sheild the mic from the wind i dont think the passenger will be able to anything but wind!

Re: Intercom systems

Not one to be a cheapskate I have invested in one from the communications emporium called Lidl...........they were selling motorbike intercom sets for £3.99 the other week. I would hope that it works perfectly given the serious amount of dosh I had to hand over for it.

Cheers,

Tony

Re: Intercom systems

That's a good point, Ricky... might have to experiment with my work Sennheiser.

Thanks, Tony - I'll have a look tomorrow, once my new computer gets delivered...

Re: Intercom systems

We tried a couple of cheap intercoms (with rally-type headsets) but they picked up too much wind noise, even with ‘socks’ on the microphones. However we now have an Autocom and it is excellent. It’s worth the money, even if you only plan to use it on long journeys. With the Autocom you can listen to music, answer your mobile and whatnot. The amp can run off a battery or just rig it up to a 12v supply. They come up on good old E-bay quite a bit.
