| What's in a name? We hear a lot about brand power these days and that the naming of a product is crucial so what pictures in your mind to the various Cobra brands evoke? Sometimes the perceptions of a brand are wrong; take the Crendon for example: most people seem to see it as solid, high quality and heavy but we hear from Wilf that it is actually one of the lightest. Here are a few thoughts: Ram: rather a weak name. I know it's meant be alpha-male, testosterone charged and so on but ultimately it's still a sheep. Dax: one of those names chosen because it means nothing at all, like kodak, evokes no reaction and offends nobody. AK: Presumable meant to be rather like AC but to me it just says Ack! Crendon: Boring. Just a village in Oxfordshire; it could equally be called Watlington or Didcot. Sumo: Why would anyone name a sports car after a huge fat foreigner in a nappy? Magnum: Not bad for it's race car image. A bit of a cliche maybe. Gardner Douglas: This one takes my prize. The name just oozes class; it has classic racing car all over it. It sounds like Lister Jaguar and Briggs Cunningham. Just a few lighthearted ramblings so don't take it at all seriously please...

| Re: What's in a name? Viper: great name for a Cobra replica but confusing because of the production car of the same name. "I'm building a Viper" means what? Backdraft: Too many farty metaphors for my taste. Superformance: Good name for toilet paper or condoms.

| Re: What's in a name? I am biased - I like the sound of AK, (& for good reason). However I think the name Kirkham conjours up images of a racing heritage & prestige, (also conjours up images of expense!!).
